If you are using the micro:bit in a setting where one device is likely to be used by multiple people, for example, a classroom or library you should familiarise yourself with local protocols for hygiene. For example, The UK government have published this advice regarding cleaning in non-healthcare settings and the US Centre for Disease Control and Protection (CDC) have published this advice for cleaning households with suspected cases of COVID-19.
There are other options available for sanitising electronic devices, such as an ultrasonic/UV-C lightbox and if you have other methods in place, we would like to hear from you so that we may link to them here.
Please keep in mind that the transmission of COVID-19 from contaminated surfaces and objects is not fully understood, and we cannot guarantee that these procedures will decontaminate the micro:bit of all COVID-19 germs until more research is undertaken.
Safely storing your micro:bit is also an effective method of keeping the device clean and protecting against damage
Safe use of the micro:bit is of utmost importance to the Foundation and we encourage you to read our safety guide for more information.
