The Micro:bit Educational Foundation is a not-for-profit. When you buy the micro:bit we receive a royalty which helps our work in education programmes worldwide.
Can I still buy the original micro:bit (V1)?
Yes you can. Eventually the previous (V1) iteration of the micro:bit will be phased out as a product available for purchase.
While the original micro:bit will continue to be supported by the editors, the newer iteration will eventually replace the previous iteration.
