The Device extension is now deprecated by the MakeCode team as the blocks are not supported.
If you still want to use the device blocks, for example, to take a selfie with the camera, you can drag and drop the attached .hex file into the editor at makecode.microbit.org. This program includes the legacy devices extension.
You can also find examples in the Android and iOS apps if you want to try the programs out.
With the iOS app for micro:bit, you are able to select the sample and tap on the edit icon to open in the MakeCode editor
