Android
The Android app provides the basic capability to flash a program to your micro:bit wirelessly, using Bluetooth. You will need to pair with the micro:bit to use this app, so ensure you have Bluetooth and Location services switched on on your device.
Please Note:
- If you installed the app before 18 April 2024, please update to the latest version, to access the improvements made in the app.
- You can also use micro:bit via the browser-based editors on an Android device and transfer code to your micro:bit over a USB cable (you may need an adapter), just like you do on a computer.
iOS
The iOS app provides the basic capability to flash a program to your micro:bit wirelessly, using Bluetooth. It contains a set of Monitor and Control services to interact with your micro:bit in real-time. You will need to pair with the micro:bit to use this app.

Swift
Swift Playgrounds is an app for the iPad and Mac that helps teach people to code in the Swift language using interactive 'books'.
Makecode Offline
The MakeCode editor is available as an app which you can install on a computer with Windows or Mac OS. Once installed, the MakeCode Offline App lets you create, run, and download your projects to the micro:bit. It works the same as the Web application in your browser but it’s a stand-alone application that will work when a connection to the internet is restricted or unavailable.
